  • Season Starts Sep 10th Cont'd

It's going to be an amazing season with Head Coach Benji taking the reigns. We will have competition schedules to each group shortly and give you dates for team meetings as well. We are in the process of setting everyone up in Instateam (the tool we use for schedule updates, changes and competitions). If you are new to the club and receive an email regarding Instateam, please make sure to accept and follow the instructions. This is where all schedule changes are made and attendance for competition is recorded.

Note, we use only the addresses provided at registration. If you need to add another parent or athlete please let us know once you have been added to Instateam.

We will also be sending dates for swim suits and t-shirt sizes, charts of sizes will go out soon. (We do not hold stock, so you will need to use the sizing charts to determine the correct size for your athlete. When in doubt, go a size larger as all suits and shirts fit tight).

Something to consider for this season is volunteering. We are always looking for new faces to join the board. As well, we need team managers for each of U10s, U12 boys, U12 girls, U14 boys, U14 girls, U16 boys and U19 boys. We will also need a bingo co-ordinator, this position is vital to the club as the funds from Bingos go a LONG way to supporting the teams financially. Also, a raffle manager (we do only 1 per year).

The bingo sign-up will be available shortly as well, we use Sign-up Genius for this like last season. Watch for the link. Our first bingo is in October. We estimate all families will need to do approximately 4 bingos, this is based on the number of families that register. We will know this once we have registration in September.

Any athletes looking to do referee courses, or general information for the league and greater community, I suggest you bookmark Alberta Water Polo Association's website. It is a great resource for questions.

In order to qualify for the 10% discount, you must submit your registration package plus a $200 deposit per registered athlete by June 30, 2019 (1 athlete = $200 deposit, 2 athletes = $400 deposit, etc.). Pool rental, coaching, Community League, Provincial League, Alberta Water Polo Membership fee (including athlete insurance), a Calgary Wild water polo swimsuit, and a Calgary Wild team t-shirt.

    Tryout Policy

As discussed above, if we have more players register for the 16U or 19U boys' teams than we can accommodate (15 players: 13 field + 2 goalies), we may need to restrict the number of athletes on that particular team. If so, the age group team coach will hold tryouts within the first 2 weeks of the season to determine which athletes will be chosen for that age group team. If an athlete is not chosen to be on the team, we will provide a full refund for that athlete. Furthermore, we will work diligently with the athlete and his family to place the athlete on another better-suited team in Calgary.

Athletes may have the opportunity to play in the age category above their registered age group based on Coaches' evaluations and discretion.
